Thomas Kostner, head chef at the Hotel Am Sonnenhang, is one of the best in his field. During his several years of experience abroad in Switzerland, Canada and Germany, he worked with Joachim Wissler at the Vendôm, at the Schwarzwaldstube in Baiersbronn and with the South Tyrolean star chef Martin Dalsass. He then returned to his homeland of South Tyrol and began his career as a pastry chef in 2009 at the Hotel Castel under the 2 Michelin star chef Gerhard Wieser.

In order to meet the ever-growing needs of guests, further training is also a must. He passed both the master craftsman's examination as an ice cream maker and the training to become a master chef with flying colors.

He has been head chef at the Hotel Am Sonnenhang in Dorf Tirol in beautiful South Tyrol for four years now. He is responsible for the organization of the entire culinary area.

In addition to his main job, he has been passionately leading patisserie and cooking courses in various school and extracurricular organizations for over 10 years.

Silver medal at the Culinary World Cup 2018 in Luxembourg Together with the regional team of the South Tyrolean Chefs' Association

2023 Award for trainer of the year

Thomas Kostner has a deep passion for imparting knowledge. He enjoys passing on his extensive know-how. Encouraging young and interested people is particularly important to him. His students benefit from his many years of experience. He not only teaches techniques, but also attention to detail. His training courses are practical and inspiring.

In 2023, his dedication was rewarded with the “Instructor of the Year” award. This honor confirms his dedication and methodology. His passion for teaching is unwavering.
